Virtual Production Meets Action-Packed Car Scenes in Gritty Crime Drama 

BAFTA-winning Gangs of London returned for its highly anticipated third season, now streaming on Sky Atlantic and NOW. 

To capture some of the season’s car sequences, Pulse Films and VFX Supervisor James Jordan turned to Virtual Production Studios by 80six. Over three separate studio shoots, the team captured seamless in-camera action — from tense interior driving scenes to a fiery car crash — all within the fully controlled environment of our virtual production studio.

For each phase of the shoot, our team custom-built a flexible curved LED volume using ROE Black Onyx 2.8 panels, a LED ceiling, moveable with mm precision due to the kineysis rigging system deployed and two rolling LED dollies for reflections.

The bespoke LED volume design was tailored to each vehicle type, ensuring efficient use of the production’s budget.

The ROE Black Onyx 2.8 panel offered excellent color accuracy, high resolution and smooth VFX integration, making it a great choice for virtual production.

The adjustable ceiling helped simulate realistic lighting shifts during driving sequences, ensuring true-to-life environments.

Our pipeline integrated Disguise VX4 rendering with Brompton technology for precise colour and brightness management, ensuring consistent, photo-realistic environments would be displayed in-camera.
